The film “(ab)normal Desire” won both the Audience Award and the Best Director Award in the Competition section at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival, which closed on Wednesday, November 1!
This is the third time that a film starring Goro Inagaki has won the Audience Award at this film festival, following “Another World” (19, directed by Junji Sakamoto) and “By the window” (22, directed by Rikiya Imaizumi). This is the first time that a film starring the lead actor has won the Audience Award three times since this film festival was first held. This was also the first time for director Yoshiyuki Kishi to win the Best Director Award in competition at an international film festival. This was a recognition of both director Yoshiyuki Kishi’s directing skills and the audience’s appreciation of his work.
