The live-action film adaptation of Aisarenakute mo Betsu ni, originally written by Ayano Takeda, known for Hibike! Euphonium, has been officially announced. The film will be directed by Aya Igashi, the youngest Japanese filmmaker to have a film screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and will star Sara Minami. It is set for release on Friday, July 4, 2025.
<STORY>
Hiiro Miyata (19) was living a “crappy” college life.
Between attending university, working part-time at a convenience store, and handling all the household chores in place of his spendthrift mother, most of his time was consumed. From his meager earnings, he had to cover his tuition and contribute 80,000 yen to support their two-person household. There was no time to have fun—nor money.
He had never lived with expectations—for his parents, for his friends, for anything.
As usual, after finishing his early morning shift, Hiiro prepared breakfast for his mother, completed his chores, and then headed to university. That day, he happened to overhear a rumor about his classmate and part-time coworker, Miyabi Enaga (24).
Her intimidating blonde hair, bold makeup, and piercings—along with her habit of wearing earphones while serving customers at work—made her the complete opposite of the unassuming Hiiro.
“I heard Enaga’s father is a murderer.”
Neither of them had ever believed they could form a normal connection with someone else.
But their meeting would change their lives forever.
