The poster artwork and trailer for the film “F(r)iction” have been unveiled!
The line between madness and sanity is razor-thin.
What lies beneath the mask of “justice” when it is finally torn away?
Experience the ultimate rush of terror and exhilaration.
Set to the electro music track “Hagane no Uma” (“Steel Horse”) by Maika Loubté, the trailer sketches the gradual transformation of Tada, an office worker with no prior acting experience, as he becomes consumed by his role and begins to strip away the masks worn by those around him.
The trailer reaches its climax with Mera’s cutting remark, “You really are crazy, aren’t you?” — followed by an unsettling final shot of Tada’s eerie smile illuminated by the glow of a computer screen in the darkness. Meanwhile, Mera and the other characters, including those performing a mysterious dance, are all portrayed as “mad” in this newly released trailer.
The poster artwork is also unveiled!
The newly unveiled poster artwork features a striking image of Mizukami, who plays Tada, with an intensely unsettling smile that appears to push the limits of facial distortion.
Having secured the lead role in the controversial stage production, Tada gradually becomes one with the character he portrays, blindly believing in “the truth” and spiraling out of control. The image captures the fear that emerges from this transformation, evoking the iconic expression of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
Also featured alongside Tada are Mera, played by Kuroki, Kaito, the stage playwright portrayed by Koike, and Kato, the stage director played by Sasaki. Yet their expressions are neither fearful of Tada nor accepting of him — their “pure, emotionless faces” create an unsettling atmosphere that is both eerie and strangely amusing.
The poster is accompanied by thought-provoking taglines: “Your mask has already been removed, hasn’t it?” and “A single person’s ‘truth.’” With these enigmatic words, the provocative visual challenges viewers to question what is truly just and what is truly real, leaving them unsettled while shaking the foundations of their own perceptions and values.
